Paul Sheridan in Beatrice et Benedict and The Crown

paul sheridan headshotALRA alumnus Paul Sheridan graduated from our Postgraduate (MA) Acting course in 2011 and has since developed a successful professional acting career. He reached out to chat with us about some of the exciting work he is currently involved in, Béatrice et Bénédict and upcoming Netflix drama, The Crown.

Sheridan will be playing the role of Notaire in Béatrice et Bénédict, a stage production based on Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing seen through the unique vision of director Laurent Pelly. This 'comic gem' will be making its long-awaited Glyndebourne premiere at Festival 2016 and will be running from 23rd July to 27th August. Sheridan commented on the production, stating:

"I never dreamed I'd end up being in an opera - I didn't even realise that non-singing roles existed. I'm really excited to be playing a part in such a world-class festival. The singing and production values are incredible. Laurent, the director, comes from an acting background and likes to work on every moment in detail."

As well as this, Sheridan can be seen in new Netflix drama, The Crown, starring Clair Foy and Matt Smith which tells the story of the relationship between Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. The show follows the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Sheridan plays the role of the Prime Minister's aide in three episodes of the new drama which will be premiering on 4th November 2016. He said:

"I was originally cast in one episode, but as it transpired, they were still writing the scripts and I ended up being in three episodes, playing the aide to Winston Churchill (John Lithgow) and also Anthony Eden (Jeremy Northam).

"We filmed scenes at Borehamwood Film Studios and on various locations including The Imperial War Museum at Duxford and The Reform Club in Pall Mall. It was an amazing experience to be part of such a huge production, and I can't wait to see it when it comes out."

The series has been reported to be Netflix's most expensive drama to date. You can watch the trailer here.

We wish Paul all the best for both productions and his future career. If you are an alumni and would also like to share your experiences with us, please get in touch via email on alumni@alra.co.uk and a member of the team will be able to assist you.
