Emmanuel Imani in ALRA's 'The Laramie Project'

We are so proud that one of Britain’s fast-rising stars is none other than ALRA alumnus Emmanuel Imani who has recently landed a role in a Hollywood production alongside Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Oldman.

Criminal is the name of the upcoming film where Emmanuel plays a CIA officer.

From a 3-year BA hons in Acting to Hollywood

Emmanuel is one of our 2011/2012 graduates, having completed the 3-year BA hons in Acting. Soon after he graduated, Emmanuel made his official acting debut in A Thousand Miles of History directed by Harold Finley at The Bussey Building.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was his first film role in 2014, followed by the short Beautiful Relics. He then landed a part in the TV drama Doctors followed by a starring role in Invisible Men which was selected by The British Urban Film Festival as Channel 4’s closing film.

Proud of his own roots, culture...

Emmanuel defines himself as "Christian AfroBrit actor", proven by his script choices which are often inspired by his family origins.

Emmanuel’s role in Invisible Men, a film about immigration, where men and women leave Africa in search of a better life, is a great reflection of Emmanuel's inspirations.

In 2016, Emmanuel will be re-visiting Africa with the aim to leave his mark on the theatre scene. He will be at the Lagos Theatre Festival in Nigeria, where he will be part of the cast of the tremendously popular D’Banj-inspired Afrobeats play Oliva Tweest.

... and his training

One of the most common questions during an interview to any professional actor normally centres around career advice in the drama/acting industry. Emmanuel's take on these questions is that “training to me is crucial”.

Here at ALRA we are exultant about Emmanuel’s achievements and are delighted that his 3-year BA Hons in Acting was one of his most enlightening experiences.
